We are a group of passionate Yemeni youth who have taken it upon ourselves to coordinate this unique conference, TEDxTaiz, as a way to give back to our beloved Taiz, the cradle of Yemeni civilization. Our motto is "Igniting Creativity and Innovation."
TED is an acronym for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Launched back in 1984, TED is a non-profit conference that aims to bring together people from the three worlds of Technology, Entertainment, and Design, with the main focus on Technology. Over time, the conference theme was extended to include medicine, sciences, engineering, literature, arts, and research and development. The conference is held annually in California, USA, and has expanded to include a series of conferences with a similar focus in cities around the world. The primary objective of TED conferences is to share ideas worth sharing and give the opportunity to people all over the world to innovate, succeed, and thrive by opening the doors to their ideas to take off and change from abstract concepts into a tangible reality. Conference presentations span 18 minutes each, and must be delivered in a catchy and appealing manner using state-of-the-art technology. The intended outcome: inspiration galore.
Inspired by the TED Concept, TEDx evolved with a special focus on mobilizing the grassroots of local communities around the world to share ideas and experiences within a similar TED framework. TEDx conferences are organized in local communities through a coherent, self-driven effort of local community members, who plan, coordinate, and execute these local conferences after getting all the required approvals, licensing, and guidelines from the parent organization, TED. The end result is to bring out the best in each community, celebrating human achievement and inspiring more to come.

TEDxTaiz 2014 is a one-day conference that is scheduled to take place in Taiz, Yemen on May 17, 2014, God willing.
We are presently recruiting a variety of Yemeni speakers within different fields to present to the world their innovative ideas and intriguing stories. Our plan is to attract to this unique conference the youth of Taiz and Yemen to benefit and get inspired by the various presentations, and transform their energy, interests, and strengths into a positive force of change that will shape a bright tomorrow for Yemen and the world. Inspiration is key to self-motivation that is in turn key to creativity and unleashing the infinite potential of the human mind, driving it to take off where the sky is the limit. In addition to the youth, the conference will also be attended by key community figures, investors, and business owners who have a vested interest in hearing the ideas and proposals presented in the conference, and helping make them into a reality. Between youth and business minds in the community, we anticipate that TEDxTaiz will be very well-attended and very inspiring and uplifting to all attendance, God willing.
